2018

The 2018 Golden Mike Award was presented to Emily L. Barr, President & CEO of Graham Media Group, on March 5, 2018 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. More than 250 radio and television industry executives and celebrities were in attendance for the event, which was hosted by Deborah Norville, anchor of Inside Edition. The evening’s presenters were Don Graham, Chairman of Graham Holdings, Co.; Hank Price, President & GM of WVTM 13 in Birmingham, AL; and Peggy Allen of Savage Hart Farm.
The Broadcasters Foundation also honored Edward F. McLaughin with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented by Nick Verbitsky, Chairman of USRN, and accepted by Patricia McLaughlin, Ed’s wife.  Chicagoan and BMI singer-songwriter Darrian Ford performed songs from his new album, New Standards.
The event raised over $250,000 for broadcasters in need.

2017

The 2017 Golden Mike Award was presented to Paul Karpowicz, President of Meredith Corporation’s Local Media Group, on February 27, 2017 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. More than 250 radio and television industry executives and celebrities were in attendance for the event, which was hosted by Tim McAuliff, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Petry Media Corp. he evening’s presenters were Steven Lanzano, President of the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB), Mike O’Neill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and Senator Gordon Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).
The Broadcasters Foundation also presented the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award to Bill Hoffman, retired President of Cox Media Group. Triple-platinum pop star and BMI songwriter Andy Grammer rocked the house with his smash hits, “Keep Your Head Up,” “Honey, I’m Good,” and “Fresh Eyes.”  The event raised $280,000 for broadcasters in need.

2016

The 2016 Golden Mike Award was presented to Bob Pittman, Chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia, Inc., on February 29, 2016 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. More than 325 radio and television industry executives and celebrities were in attendance for the event, which was hosted by Elvis Duran, host of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, which originates on iHeart Media’s Z-100 in New York and is nationally syndicated on more than 80 radio stations across the country. The evening’s presenters were Jarl Mohn, President and CEO of NPR, and John Sykes, President of iHeartMedia Entertainment Enterprises.
The 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on legendary broadcaster Charles Osgood, anchor of the Emmy Award winning CBS Sunday Morning and The Osgood File on the CBS Radio Network.
The event raised $400,000 for broadcasters in need.

2015

The 2015 Golden Mike Award was presented to Senator Gordon Smith, President and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), on March 16, 2015 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. More than 275 radio and television industry executives and celebrities were in attendance for the event. The evening was hosted by CBS News’ Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett, who reports for all CBS News broadcasts and platforms. The presenters were Jeff Smulyan, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Emmis Communications Corporation, and David Barrett, Director of Hearst Corporation, with special messages from former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and Vice President Biden.
Kari Clark accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her late husband, the legendary TV and radio personality Dick Clark. This was the first time the Broadcasters Foundation has given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The event raised $250,000 for broadcasters in need.
