The Foundation was created by members of our industry, to improve the quality of life and maintain the personal dignity of radio and television broadcast professionals, who find themselves in acute need.
Many of those in need were in positions similar to yours. They had illustrious careers and full lives which were suddenly overtaken by a catastrophic illness or other misfortune. Like one of our most recent grant recipients, who worked in radio sales for over 30 years before being diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Her treatment left her unable to work, so she reached out to the Foundation and now receives monthly financial support to help cover her medical expenses.
When people fall on hard times and are unable to work, many are also left without health insurance or government assistance of any kind. Several of our recipients were almost destitute and could not afford doctor’s visits, medicine or physical therapy. Your support enables these colleagues to make ends meet, even making it possible to buy the most simple of necessities.
Now in its 8th year, all funds raised during the Katz Membership Drive go towards the Stu Olds Memorial Fund, and each April our grantees receive funds in memory of Stu. For our industry, no other charitable organization has a bigger impact than the Broadcasters Foundation. I urge all of you to join the Broadcasters Foundation of America.
