Katz Media Group to Receive the 2025 PJL Spirit Award
Presented During BFOA’s Golden Mic Gala in NYC on March 10, 2025
The Broadcasters Foundation of America has announced that the 2025 Philip J. Lombardo Spirit Award will be presented to Katz Media Group and accepted by Mark Gray, its Chief Executive Officer and a longtime BFOA Board Member, during the BFOA Golden Mic Gala and Fundraiser in New York City on Monday, March 10. The Spirit Award is bestowed upon an individual or company that exhibits the spirit of dedication and relentless drive to the Broadcasters Foundation charitable mission of helping broadcasters in acute need exemplified by its former longtime chairman, Phil Lombardo.
Katz Media Group has conducted an annual company-wide donation drive in support of the BFOA’s charitable mission, raising more than $450,000 since the drive’s inception. The first Katz Drive took place under its then Chief Executive Officer, Stu Olds, a champion of the BFOA’s charitable mission who served on its Board for many years, including as its Chair. Upon his passing in 2010, The Stu Olds Memorial Fund was established in his honor. Since then, donations from the Katz Annual Drive have been to the Memorial Fund. The 2025 Katz Drive is set to take place in February.
“Katz is deeply committed to supporting the Broadcasters Foundation and helping our broadcast colleagues during the most challenging times in their lives,” said Gray. “The Broadcasters Foundation has been a steadfast source of support for those facing debilitating illnesses and those impacted by disasters such as wildfires, tornadoes, and floods. I’m incredibly proud of our team for their annual contributions in Stu’s honor.”
“Katz has been a longtime champion of the Broadcasters Foundation, with an unwavering commitment to the Foundation’s mission,” stated Tim McCarthy, President of the Broadcasters Foundation. “The Katz Drive, which began under Stu Olds, has become vital to our Foundation, and we are especially grateful to Mark and the entire Katz team for their tremendous dedication in continuing this important tradition, ensuring the Foundation can support our colleagues in need.”
